Global coronavirus infections top 62 million

Data compiled by Johns Hopkins University in the United States show that the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases around the world has topped 62 million.

The university says global infections totaled 62,515,111 as of 18:00 UTC on Sunday. The global death toll has climbed to 1,456,621.

The US has the highest number of cases at 13,291,126. It is followed by India. That country has 9,392,919 cases. Brazil has 6,290,272, France has 2,260,789, and Russia has 2,249,890.

The US also has the most deaths at 266,357. It is followed by Brazil. The country has 172,561 deaths. India has 136,696, Mexico has 105,459, and Britain has 58,342.
