Indian official inspects Monywa-Yargyi-Kalaywa road upgrading in Kani Tsp

With the financial support of India government, Monywa-Yargyi-Kalaywa road has been upgraded as India-Myanmar friendship road since May, 2018, turning the road, that links Sagaing region’s Monywa town with Manmar’s border town of Tamu near India, accessible in all weathers.

 

Ms. Namgya Khampa, associate secretary from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, india and party inspected the upgrading ot the road segment from Kalaywa township to Yargyi village in Kani township. On their arrival at Yargyi village at 4 pm local time, they were given a friendly welcome by local people.

Monywa-yargyi-Kalaywa road is 115 miles and five furlongs long and Monywa-yargyi road segment which is 40 miles long is being upgraded under BOT system. Yargyi-Kalaywa road segment, which is 75 miles and five furlongs long, will be upgraded to a tarred road with two-way lanes. The upgrading project of Yargyi-kalaywa road segment started in May, 2018 with the use of $ 180 million funded by Inidan government, setting a deadline of May, 2021.

 

When completed, the road will further improve commodity flows and the development of the areas, strengthening bilateral relationships and friendship between the two countries.—Than Htay Aung (Kani)
