MoSWRR discuses providing COVID-19 relief assistance in Yangon Region

The Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement held a coordination meeting on 28 September about providing relief assistance in Yangon Region which has seen increasing number of COVID-19 cases in recent days.


Union Minister Dr Win Myat Aye presided over the online meeting taken part by the senior officials of his office and township officers from the respective departments.


At the meeting, the Union Minister discussed participation in prevention, control and treatment of COVID-19 in Yangon Region during the second wave of pandemic, relief plan or social protection and disaster management plans, the global modern practices in addition to the existing measures, developing plans for implementation of the possible methods and awareness programmes.


Officials also held talks on giving training to the volunteers, motivation works, and assistance to people who are getting medical treatments at the local hospitals like the disaster victims at the relief camps.


The Deputy Minister advised the officials to follow rules and directives of Ministry of Health and Sports in implementing the strategies amid COVID-19 pandemic. The directors-general of respective departments, the directors, local officers and officials from training schools and shelters presented their preparations for providing assistance.—MNA
