Myanmar beat Chinese Taipei 1-0 in women’s international friendly match

21 November

THE Myanmar women’s national football  team  beat  the  Chinese  Taipei  team  1-0  in  an  interna-tional  friendly  match  yesterday  on  the  Bahan  artificial  turf  in  Yangon.

The win rested on the lone goal scored in the match by star player Khin Moe Wai, who netted the ball early in the first half.

Both teams used their most reliable players from the kickoff.

Soon, it became evident that the teams were evenly matched, and  the  contest  turned  into  a  thriller.  Though  the  match  was  a  friendly  one,  the  two  teams  pulled out all stops to show their abilities in front of fans.

There were goal chances in the  early  minutes  of  the  game,  but efforts to convert them were blunted  as  the  defensive  lines  of both teams remained strong.

Myanmar managed the first and winning goal of the match at 20 minutes by taking advantage of a misunderstanding in the Chi-nese Taipei defense line. The goal for  team  Myanmar  was  scored  by veteran player Khin Moe Wai.

Myanmar players remained strong  in  the  second  half  with  good tackling and delivery.

As  Myanmar  shifted  to  de-fense mode plus attack, Chinese Taipei  players  found  it  hard  to  convert scoring opportunities.

There  were  no  more  goals  till  the  final  whistle,  and  the  match  ended  with  a  1-0  win  for  Myanmar. —Lynn Thit (Tgi)
