Myanmar Wushu team win gold medal in 31st SEA Games

Maung Thein Than Oo competed in the Nangun event of Wushu sport in the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Viet Nam and won the fourth gold medal for Myanmar.

The Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs on behalf of the Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing presented US$3,000 as reward to gold medalist Maung Thein Than Oo.

In the afternoon, Wushu Sanshou event continued, Ma Hsu Hlaing Win in the 60-kilo competition won one silver medal.

In the women’s Sanshou 52-kg event, Ma Cherry Than earned one bronze medal and in the men’s Sanshou 70-kilo competition, Maung Myo Min Htet won another bronze medal.

In the afternoon, Myanmar national men’s football team played against Indonesia team and team Myanmar faced a 1-3 loss to Indonesia in their last group match played at Viet Tri Stadium in Phu Tho, Viet Nam.

At the same time, Myanmar national women’s football team played against Singapore team and won by 1-0 and team Myanmar has already advanced to the semifinals.

Myanmar competed in the track and field, Archery, Billiards, Chess, Football, Futsal, Golf, Volleyball, Wushu and bodybuilding competitions yesterday.

Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Chairman of Myanmar Olympic Committee U Min Thein Zan, Director-General of the Department of Sports and Physical Education U Tun Myint Oo, Team Administrators and coaches, Myanmar sports teams and officials attended the sporting events.

Myanmar is currently ranking the 7th in the SEA Games with four gold medals, five silver medals and nine bronze medals.—MNA
