Rattan handicrafts generate income in Naga Self-Administered Zone

TRADITIONAL woven rattan creel, baskets and plates are allowing residents in the Naga Self-Administered Zone, Sagaing Region to earn extra income after they harvestted the crops.

 

Those rattan and bamboo handicrafts are widely used in the Naga Self-Administered Zone.

 

It takes about four hours to make a woven creel. The handicrafts are made of bamboo and rattan. The price of a rattan creel is approximately K10,000.

 

Those rattan creels and wicker baskets are utilized to carry the woods, water and other goods. Some are also used as decoration. The prices may vary depending on the size and quality. This traditional woven rattan creels and baskets generate a healthy income for the local resides. — Han Tun/GNLM
