SEA Games: Myanmar U-22 men’s football team win bronze medal in penalty shootout

The U-22 men’s football team of Myanmar won the bronze medal after beating Cambodia 7-6 in a penalty shootout in the 30th SEA Games at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila, the Philippines yesterday.

The match which ended 2-2 in 90 minutes has to play a penalty shootout in which Cambodia missed a goal.

The goals in 90 minutes for Myanmar were scored by Aung Kaung Mann at 9th minute and Myat Kaung Khant at 35th minute, while the goals for Cambodia were scored by Chanthea at 1st minute and Sokpheng at 71st minute. In the penalty shootout, Htet Phyo Wai, Lwin Moe Aung, Nay Moe Naing, Ye Yint Aung and Win Naing Tun scored the goals for Myanmar, while Sadavid, Muslim, Piseth and Rosib scored the goals for Cambodia.

In the gold medal match, Viet Nam beat Indonesia 3-0 and claimed the championship title. The goals for Viet Nam were scored by Doan Van Hau at 39th and 73rd minutes and Do Hung Dung at 59th minute. The best goalscorers are Osvaldo Haay from Indonesia and Ha Duc Chinh from Viet Nam with eight goals each, and followed by Nguyen Tien Linnh with six goals. The champions of 2017 SEA Games was Thailand, and followed by runners-up Malaysia, third place Indonesia and fourth place Myanmar. — Kyaw Khin
