Steering Committee for Supporting Union-Level Tax Revenue-raising holds 2nd coord meeting

The Steering Committee for Supporting the Union-Level Tax Revenue-raising held its second coordination meeting at the Ministry of Planning, Finance and Industry in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

During the meeting, Union Minister for Planning, Finance and Industry U Soe Win said that participation of the public is important to have effective revenue collecting processes, importance of assistance of regional governmental organizations and to have collectable revenues for the country development.

The Union Minister continued that the Internal Revenue Department of Myanmar is also making long term growth of the revenue works; faster and better online-based revenue payment system in the process of being implemented. Union Minister urged tax collectors to levy taxes systematically and impose taxes in keeping with the revenue laws, and to have better management system of taxation and revenues in a context of changing economic environment. Union Minister invited officials to discuss difficulties on collecting taxes facing them.

Next, finance ministers from respective states and regions discussed difficulties in collecting taxes and deputy ministers and officials responded to the discussions. Union Minister coordinated on the statements. Deputy Ministers U Maung Maung Win, U Set Aung, Dr Min Ye Paing Hein, and permanent secretary U Tun Tun Naing and officials from the Internal Revenue Department also attended the coordination meeting.—MNA (Translated by Kyaw Zin Lin)
