Union Minister Dr Myint Htwe meets ICRC delegation online

Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Myint Htwe held videoconferencing with Mr Stephan Sakaliane, Resident Representative of International Committee of the Red Cross to discuss programmes of the ICRC in Myanmar, work plans for 2021 and returns of ICRC members if they are found positive for COVID-19.


During the meeting, Mr Stephan Sakaliane discussed cooperation works with Sittway General Hospital for Physical Rehabilitation processes for the injured people in Rakhine State, plans to resume the operations which are halted due to COVID-19 in Shan State, 3 MoUs between MoHS and ICRC to improve the healthcare services in Rakhine, Kachin and Shan states, utilization of ICRC’s 2021 budget for Myanmar in conducting such work programmes. Then, Union Minister also briefed the work programmes of ministry which are being carried out in Rakhine State, practical cooperation with ICRC to increase the awareness of international countries, formation of focal team to monitor and supervise the cooperation works between the ministry and ICRC, importance of healthcare services without any discrimination on gender and religions, progresses at the Physical Rehabilitation centres in Kengtung and Myitkyina townships and Physical Rehabilitation programmes to be implemented at Sittway General Hospital.
