YUFC player Soe Min Naing retires to coach youths

FORMER Yangon United forward player Soe Min Naing has retired from football playing and will be coaching the Yangon United youth team near future, according to the statement with the Myanmar National League.

Upon his retirement from playing, the 30-year-old striker has revealed his feeling.

 “It was a difficult decision for me. I can still play. Fans always want to see me as a player. But it was also the COVID-19 period. Thus I made a long-term decision for my life.

Soe Min Naing’s contract with Yangon United will expire at the end of this month, and he will then be working as the assistant coach of Yangon United U-19 team with head coach U Aye Naing.

The striker played for Magway FC from 2009 to 2015 and won the Bogyoke Aung San Shield in 2015.

Then, he moved to Yangon United FC. In Yangon FC, he could assist the team winning the Myanmar National League trophy once, Bogyoke Aung San Shield twice and Open Cup once.

The last match he played for Yangon United was the 6-1 win over ISPE team, in which he scored a winning goal for his team. Soe Min Naing also played for Myanmar National Football Team in 2015, and he made his debut on 30 March 2015 against Indonesia National Team.—Lynn Thit (Tgi)
