Mawtaung 17 January
A fire broke out in a house in Myoma Ward in the town of Mawtaung, Taninthayi Township, Myeik District, Taninghtayi Region at about 2:20 am on January 17.
The fire was triggered by the overheated electric wire and it was extinguished by officials from Mawtaung Fire Services Department, departmental personnel and local residents with the help of two fire engines and a water tanker. The fire was put out at about 2:40 am and it destroyed a house.
Action has been taken against the house owner over fire negligence by the local police station.
