Fire breaks out in Minbya Twsp.

A fire broke out in central ward on BOC Road in the town of Minbya, Rakhine State at about 6:15 pm on 23 December, and totally destroyed two houses and a warehouse, causing a loss of K 3.75 million.


The fire was thought to have started from an electric short circuit installed in a warehouse of U Maung Che and engulfed two nearby houses.


15 Firefighters from the township Fire Service Department, five firefighters from Myaugbwe fire station and 24 firefighters from the district Fire Services Department rushed to the scene to put out the fire in collaboration with locals using eight fire engines, and the blaze was completely extinguished.


A total of 10 fire victims including seven men and three women from two families are currently taking shelter at the homes of their relatives in the town. Action has been taken against U Maung Che over fire negligence by the local police station.
