Hantharwady stays in champions’ path with a win over Yadanarbon

HANTHARWADY United is still okay to grab the championship trophy of the Myanmar National League with a 3-1 win over Yadanarbon in the MNL Week-18 match played yesterday at Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon. 


The win lifts Hantharwady to the top from second place in the MNL standing table. 


Head coach U Aung Kyaw Moe’s Yadanarbon FC lined up with crucial players including striker Aung Thu, captain Hlaing Bo Bo, Win Naing Soe, Myo Ko Tun, Si Thu Aung and keeper Pyae Lyan Aung. 


Head coach U Myo Min Tun’s Hantharwady, used key players including captain and goalkeeper Ko Ko Naing, Kekere, Emeka, Donald Bissa, Aung Thura Zaw, Hein Htet Aung, Aung Moe Htwe and Aung Hlaing Win. 


Yadanarbon launched an open attack from the beginning, but Hantharwady used their counter-attack. 


Yadanarbon found an ice breaker at 31 minutes and the goal was scored by Si Thu Aung at 31 minutes. 


But, the happiness of Yadanarbon’s fans has not lasted long as Hantharwady made their equalizer at 39 minutes and the goal was scored by expatriate player Emeka Ndubuisi. 


The first half was ended by 1-1.


The second half saw the more talented play of Hantharwady, and they made a leading goal at 49 minutes by the score of youth player Hein Htet Aung. 


Again Hanthar wady ’s Hein Htet Aung scored another goal for his team at 56 minutes. 


The third goal of Hantharwady United made some depression for Yadanarbon’s players, and they could not make any consolation goals in last minutes. 


With the win, Hantharwady United is currently leading the MNL standing table with their dreams of the championship while Yadanarbon FC is still sitting in the fifth place with the loss of victories in the pandemic period.


In another MNL matches, Sagaing United defeated ISPE FC with a 3-1 score while Magway FC lost to Southern Myanmar FC with 1-0.
