Magway Region sees 31 new virus cases

Magway Region reported 31 new covid-19 cases on Thursday, bringing the total number of virus patients to 2,735, according to figure updated by the Department of Public Health.


There are still people in the region who are free of the virus and are in good health and have been discharged from the hospital. The virus patients on December 31 were from Magway, Seikphyu, Aunglan, Gangaw, Salin, and Taungdwingyi Townships. A contact tracing process is being conducted to expose people who had close contact with the virus patients.


Of 2735 confirmed virus cases, 59 patients are healthcare workers. Meanwhile, 263 virus patients are being treated at various hospitals in the region, said Dr Khin Maung Than, assistant director of the region's Department of Public Health.


Magway Region recorded 2,735 confirmed coronavirus cases in total, with 2,464 patients discharging from hospital and eight deaths, according to the DoPH.
