MoSWRR provides assistance to victims of Storm ‘NOUL’ in Taninthayi

According to the statement of the Department of Meterology and Hydrology, the Tropical Storm, NOUL which started occurring in South China Sea has weakened into a land depression. The heavy rain and strong wind between 17 and 18 September badly hit Taninthayi Region. The strong wind destroyed 5 houses partially while 1 house collapsed due to the heavy rain and another 12 houses and 1religious building in Kawthoung township were among those damaged or destroyed.


Due to the strong wind on 18 September, 43 houses in Bokpyin Township were destroyed while 11 houses collapsed partially. In Kyunsu Township, the strong wind destroyed 3 houses while 14 houses collapsed partially. Four houses in Launglon Township were also destroyed yesterday due to the heavy rain. The Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement quickly provided cash assistance for rice, house materials and other relief supplies to the storm victims via the officials and heads of region and district offices of Disaster Management Department, region government and General Administration Department.
