State Counsellor checks voters’ lists displays in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area

State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi inspected voters’ lists displays at the wards and villages of Ottarathiri, Pobbathiri, Zeyathiri, Dekkhinathiri and Zabuthiri townships in the Nay Pyi Taw Council Area yesterday.

She went to the Zawanadipa ward in Ottarathiri, Pyi San Aung ward in Zeyathiri, Yan Aung Myin village-tract in Dekkhinathiri and Zeyatheikdi ward in Zabuthiri.

During the inspection tours, the State Counsellor asked about capacities of polling stations and numbers of voters, voting hours, plans for the convenience of voters, and advised to conduct public awareness on voters’ lists displays.

She told the locals that each person could cast their vote only 12 times in the parliamentary elections from the age 18 to 80 and that people should not miss this opportunity for the future of the country. People need to vote in performing their national duty to be able to enjoy their rights.

She added that authorities would take healthcare measures and guidelines at the polling stations on the voting day. At the sametime, eligible voters need to check their names in the voters’ lists to elect the candidate of their choice.

During the inspection tours, the State Counsellor was accompanied by Chairman of the Union Election Commission U Hla Thein, Union Minister U Min Thu, Chairperson of Nay Pyi Taw Council Dr Myo Aung, UEC member U Myint Naing and officials.

According to the voters’ lists, there are 51,013 persons in Ottarathiri, 88,872 in Pobbathiri, 76,850 in Zeyathiri , 27,860 in Dekkhinathiri and 79,737 Zabuthiri.—MNA
