Japan's new vehicle sales rise for 2nd month

Sales of new vehicles in Japan are gradually picking up following a sharp decline due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Auto industry groups say more than 410,000 new vehicles were sold in Japan in November. That is 6.6 percent more than a year earlier, and marks the second straight month of increase.

The rise is partly due to the low base in November last year in the wake of damaging typhoons. But the groups also stress more dealers are reaching customers online and making sales.

The recovery trend still faces some risks. The coronavirus is spreading again and there has been a move by companies to cut workers' bonuses.
