Govt provides relief assistance to central Myanmar flood victims

Officials of Disaster Management are providing food supplies, cash assistance and medical equipment for prevention of COVID-19 flood victims in Mandalay, Sagaing and Magway regions under the supervision of National Disaster Management Committee.

Union Minister of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Win Myat Aye comforted and provided the flood victims in NyaungU of Mandalay Region and Yesago of Magway Region yesterday morning.

Cash assistance, instant noodle, masks and soap bars for COVID-19 were also given to 354 flood victims who are taking shelter at Mahawithuta-yama Monastery, Shit-Myat-Hnar Monastery in Sone Kone quarter and Mya Thein Tan religious hall.

The Union Minister also presented K632,100, instant noodle, masks and soap bars to 301 flood victims in Phu Lone village of Yesago township in Magway Region.

During the meetings with the flood victims, the Union Minister comforted them and raised awareness on climate changes that caused drought and floods.

He explained the government’s efforts on disaster management and called for public participation in this regard.—MNA (Translated by Khine Thazin Han)
