As part of efforts to prevent vaccine-preventable diseases, Japanese Encephalitis (JE) vaccines are being administered to children aged 1 to 5 in Pazundaung Township, Botahtaung District, Yangon Region.
Health workers, led by Dr. Nan Hla Htun, Head of the Township Public Health Department, township administration staff, ward administrators, members of the Maternal and Child Welfare Association, the Women’s Affairs Federation, the Red Cross Society, and volunteers set up vaccination sites across the wards in the Township, with field vaccinations taking place daily from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., beginning on 19 May.
So far, 307 children in Wards No. 1, 2, and 5 have received the JE vaccine. The campaign will continue in the remaining wards until 26 May.— Han Su Yin
