THE government strictly takes action against those who entered the country via the border routes passing through some neighbouring countries, including Thailand and committed online gambling, online scams and other criminal activities in Myawady-Shwe Kokko, KK Park and Kyaukkhet areas in Kayin State.
From 30 January to 22 May 2025, the government arrested 9,099 foreigners who illegally entered the country, and 8,469 of them were transferred to their respective countries via Thailand, and the remaining 630 are also ready to be transferred and are being well cared for.
Deputy Director-General Mr Liu Ning Ning from China’s Ministry of Public Security’s Criminal Investigation Department and officials arrived at the Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Bridge II, and they were welcomed by the Myawady District Administration Body Chairman and other relevant officials.
They observed the detention of Chinese nationals who illegally entered Myawady.
At the meeting hall of the bridge, they held a meeting regarding the deportation of foreign nationals.
They also discussed accelerating the trilateral agreement, and further cooperation to eradicate telecom fraud in Myawady and the transfer of detainees who are involved in telecom fraud. — MNA/KTZH
