Various seasonal crops are being planted to ensure food security in Shwedaung Township of Bago Region. In this year’s oilseed crops growing season, the Township Agriculture Department has earmarked to plant a total of 33,017 acres of pulses in the Township.

In this year’s oilseed crops growing season, the Township has targeted to grow 33,017 acres of pulses including 20,053 acres of black gram, 832 acres of green gram, 4,210 acres of butter bean, 3,205 acres of Black Pelun Beans, 2070 acres of cow pea, 1880 acres of lablab bean and 525 acres of mung bean in the Township. But as of October 31, only 1213 acres have been grown in the entire township.

Now, efforts are being made to meet the targeted areas. Moreover, farmers will be provided with necessary assistance and varieties of good quality seeds, according to the Township Department of Agriculture.—Ko Ko Min (IPRD)
