Efforts are being made to boost the capacity to plant winter crops in Chauk Township of Magway Region. In this year, farmers in the Township have planned to grow 5,541 acres of winter crops but only 5,002 acres have been planted so far.

Ground nut, sesame, sunflower are being grown as winter crops in Chauk Township of Magway Region annually. In this year’s winter crops growing season, the Township has targeted to grow 5,541 acres of oilseed crops.

As of now, farmers have only gown 5002 acres of oilseed crops including 2,941 acres of ground nut, 2,197 acres of sesame and 403 acres of sunflower in the entire township, according to the Township Department of Agriculture.

Last year, the Township Agriculture Department earmarked to grow 5,524 acres of winter crops but only 4,917 acres were planted in Chauk Township of Magway Region—Kyaw Moe(IPRD)
