Myanmar and Indonesia pledge to expand bilateral diplomacy, friendship, and strategic cooperation.
A DELEGATION led by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Mr Sugiono paid a courtesy call on President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Min Aung Hlaing, at the Presidential Reception Hall in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon.
At the meeting, they frankly exchanged views on the situation to provide necessary aid for Myanmar to become a successful and peaceful nation, and the efforts of Myanmar to enhance existing friendly ties with ASEAN.
They openly discussed the long-standing friendly nations and close partners between Myanmar and Indonesia since the time of their independence struggles, the current challenges and difficulties faced by Myanmar and its full confidence, and the effort to build a more developed and peaceful country.
They also emphasized the requirements for each country to adopt a democratic system suited to its own characteristics and culture, based on its national identity and traditions. Moreover, they talked about the situation for Myanmar and Indonesia to promote and expand diplomatic relations, friendship, and cooperation between the two countries.
Also present at the meeting were Union Minister at the President’s Office U Khin Maung Yi, Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Tin Maung Swe, Vice-Chairman of the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Work Committee Lt-Gen Yar Pyae and officials. The Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs was accompanied by Director-General Mr Santo Darmosumarto of the Asia, Pacific and Africa Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, officials, and responsible officials from the Indonesian Embassy to Myanmar.
After the meeting, the President and the Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister had documentary photos taken together with the attendees. — MNA/TTA
