Kyunhla, June 9

Kyunhla Township in Sagaing Region plans to cultivate 3,641 acres of green gram during the 2026–2027 fiscal year, according to the Township Agriculture Department.

"Green gram and pigeon pea are the main monsoon crops grown in the township, and farmers have already begun planting this season," said Daw Myint Myint Yee, head of the Township Agriculture Department.

To ensure successful cultivation and higher yields, agricultural staff are providing technical assistance on crop management, pest control, the use of natural fertilizers and pesticides, and the selection of suitable crop varieties.

During this year's monsoon season, the township has targeted 3,641 acres of green gram and 11,541 acres of pigeon pea. Planting began in May and is expected to create employment opportunities for local residents.— Myo Win Nyo (Kyunhla)
