The irrigated water from MeZali Diversion Dam will also be distributed on 16 February to grow the paddy in time in Pwintbyu township, Magway region, and the plan is underway to cultivate 19,804 acres of summer paddy in this season, according to Pwintbyu Township Irrigation and Water Utilization Management Department.
The department is yearly supplying the irrigated water from MeZali Dam through Taung Mone Myaung Ma Gyi and Myauk Mone Myaung Gyi to the paddy farmlands to grow the seasonal crops in time. Distributing of the irrigated water makes the local farmers happy with a higher yield of paddy
and crops.
“To supply the irrigated water to summer paddy under cultivation on 16 February, the department is clearing the silt and sand to improve the flow of water in the irrigation canals, upgrading of the canals, which are necessary to renovate to ensure equitable irrigation of summer crops,” said U Ye Htut Aung, the head of the Pwintbyu Township Irrigation and Water Utilization Management Department.
In 2020-2021 financial year, Pwintbyu township will grow 19,804 acres of summer paddy and 32,660 acres of summer sesame using irrigated water from MeZali diversion dam, according to the department’s statement. —Ye Win Naing (IPRD) (Translated by Hay Mar)
