2 killed, 18 injured as speeding car hits stationary minibus in Natogyi

Natogyi, 21 February

 

Two people were killed and 18 others injured in a traffic accident on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway in Natogyi Township, Mandalay Region.

 

The tragedy occurred between mileposts 317/4 and 317/5 on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway at 6:30 a.m. today after an over-speeding vehicle rear ended a stationary minibus which is bound for Mandalay. Two women from the car died on the spot and three people who were trapped in the front seat of the car have been rescued by firefighters. The deceased and injured people were transferred to a nearby public hospital.

 

The deceased women are identified as Daw Ohn Tin, 63 years old and Ma Wine Su, 12 years of age from Thanatkhartaw Village in Pyawbwe Township.—Htay Myint Maung
