An 18 member management committee and 14 sub-committees were also formed. The five national objectives of the 2019 72nd Anniversary Union Day are to protect and defend sovereignty for non-disintegration of the Union and unity of ethnic nationals through collective strength of all the ethnic nationals, striving toward establishment of a Constitution that is in accord with a democratic federal union, successful implementation of internal peace process from Union Peace Conference – 21st Century Panglong, strive towards rule of law and for the safety and security of the people through the unity of all citizens and for the people to have good education and adequate health care services.

To successfully conduct the 72nd Anniversary Union Day event, management committee and sub-committees are to take lessons from review of last year and work together to make this year the best.

Looking back at history, independence was achieved after Bogyoke Aung San and ethnic national leaders hold the Panglong conference of 12 February 1947 and signed the Panglong Agreement in unity. The Union Day that depicts the unity of ethnic national brothers and sisters have been held every year and this is the 72nd year.

Everyone knew that due to armed conflicts after independence our country lagged behind in development compared to other countries in the region. If we were able to establish internal peace which is the desire of all the people our country can stand proudly in the world for sure.

To create a democratic federal union in the future, Union Peace Conference – 21st Century Panglong has been held for three sessions already.

All are to work together with the Government, Hluttaw, Tatmadaw, ethnic national organizations, armed groups, political parties, civil society organizations and all in the national reconciliation and peace process implemented by the State for the establishment of a peaceful and flourishing democratic federal union.

Myanmar is a union that has many ethnic nationals, languages, culture, traditions and beliefs. Ethnic nationals living in different geographical locations are to maintain their cultural heritages and traditions so that they are not lost.

That is why the cultures and traditions of ethnic nationals were protected, maintained and shown on Union Day for future generation to know and not to be forgotten.

The 2019 72nd Anniversary Union Day event will be held in two parts. The first part, morning session will have flag hoisting ceremony and reading of messages. The evening session will be a dinner party and entertainment programme.

The 14 sub-committees are required to coordinate and conduct their duties and responsibilities systematically so that the two parts are implemented to surpass the implementation of the past years.

For the people to know the essence of the national aims set by the 2019 72nd Anniversary Union Day Convening Central Committee, arrangements are to be made for state-owned media like radio, television, newspaper and periodicals to broadcast and publish entertainment and informative programmes.
