2585th anniversary of Mann Shwe Settaw Pagoda’s Festival launched

The 2585th anniversary of Mann Shwe Settaw Pagoda’ Festival was held in conjunction with the opening of Buddha’s footprints in Minbu(Sagu) Township, Mangway Region this morning.

Present on the occasion were Sitagu Sayadaw and members of the Sangha, Magway Chief Minister and members of regional government, chairman of Magway Region and MPs of Hluttaw, Central Command of Commander General Kyaw Swa Lin and officials from the Central Command, departmental personnel and charity organizations. In addition, artist Mandalay Thein Zaw and others extolled Dhamma songs at the opening ceremony.

In order to bring about convenience and to reduce traffic congestion, one-way bypass was constructed. In addition, a Mann Creek Elephant Camp was opened three miles from the festival and steps are taken for entrance tax exemption and raise of hostel fees.  Furthermore, renovations of religious buildings were also undertaken, according to the Pagoda Board of trustees. 

Sitagu Saydaw will deliver a sermon in the night of opening ceremony and Chin Hills Missionary Sayadaw will deliver a sermon in the night of 10 February.
