Amyotha Hluttaw convenes sixth-day meeting of 17th regular session

AMYOTHA Hluttaw continued its 17th regular session with sixth-day meeting yesterday.


MP Daw Htu May from Rakhine State constituency 11 asked for upgrading the Kyaukpyu Airport in Kyaukpyu, Rakhine State in the coming financial year. 


Deputy Minister for Transport and Communications U Kyaw Myo replied that the airport will be upgraded depending on the budgets received in 2020-2021FY.


MP Daw Ei Ei Phyone from Ayeyawady Region constituency 8 asked to organize creative projects competitions for students at Technological Universities and Universities of Computer Studies under government’s arrangements.


Deputy Minister for Education U Win Maw Tun answered that the creative projects competitions will be organized at the Department of Higher Education’s Technological Universities and Universities of Computer Studies. 


MP U Zaw Hein from Taninthayi Region constituency 7 asked about construction of a two-storey 120x30 RCC school building at the Basic Education High School (Branch) of Mingaungsae Village in Kyunsu Township, Taninthayi Region during 2020-2021FY. 


Deputy Minister for Education U Win Maw Tun replied that a 60x30 steel structure staff housing that is needed for the school had already permitted to be constructed in the coming financial year. Therefore, the two-storey school building asked by the MP will be considered for 2021-2022FY. 


MP U Mahn Law Maung from Chin State constituency 8 asked for opening District Departments of Urban and Housing Development in Haka, Mindatand Falam and township departments at remaining townships in Chin State. 


Deputy Minister for Construction Dr Kyaw Linn replied that there are currently no plans to build district departments in Haka, Mindat and Falam and township departments in remaining townships, but after submitting to the Office of the Union Government, district-level offices will be formed depending on population density and urban development, and township-level offices will be formed depending on the increase of housing units. 


MP U Hla Oo from Sagaing Region constituency 4 asked for upgrading a three-mile road section on Monwya-Ayadaw-Shwebo Road to a 36-foot width asphalt concrete road during 2020-2021 FY.


Deputy Minister Dr Kyaw Linn replied that budgets for upgrading the three-furlong road section and another five-furlong road section on the road in 2020- 2021FY was already requested; they were not included in the budget allocation because of limited budget, but the road sections will be constructed depending on the allocated budget in coming financial years.


MP Dr Mya Thaung from Bago Region constituency 7 asked about construction of a town bypass road in Pyu, Bago Region. 


Deputy Minister Dr Kyaw Linn answered that there are currently no plans to construct a bypass road in Pyu because an over-180-foot bridge has to be built if the road is constructed and there are also now no level crossings in the town that can lead to traffic jams.


MP U Maung Maung Latt from Sagaing Region constituency 9 asked for renovating houses and constructing new houses at the planned trade zone in Tamu that is not yet implemented, and the question was answered by Deputy Minister for Commerce U Aung Htoo. 


MP U Lin Tin Htay from Mon State constituency 4 asked for constructing tar roads on Ywarlut-Kataung Sein road section and Takupati-Kalarbi road section in Chaungzon Township, Mawlamyine District in Mon State during 2020-2021FY, and the question was answered by Deputy Minister Dr Kyaw Linn.


Amyotha Hluttaw Bill Committee Member U Thein Lwin read the committee’s report on Myanmar Health Assistant Council Bill. Speaker Mahn Win Khaing Than sought the assembly’s opinion on the bill that was amended and sent back by Pyithu Hluttaw. 


Amyotha Hluttaw will convene its seventh-day meeting of 17th regular session on 30 July.
