Belt and Road Scholarship: Myanmar’s Spring Tea Reception held in Hong Kong

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), U Han Win Naing, Myanmar’s Consul-General in Hong Kong, attended the “Belt and Road Scholarship – Myanmar’s Spring Tea Reception” or­ganized by the Chinese Gen­eral Chamber of Commerce (CGCC) in Hong Kong on 22 April.

 

During the event, the Myanmar consul-general delivered a speech in which he highlighted the Belt and Road Initiative, now enter­ing its second decade, as a significant force for fostering cooperation across economic, infrastructure, cultural, and people-to-people contact sec­tors. He also urged Myanmar scholarship students in Hong Kong to strive for excellence in their studies and, simulta­neously, to contribute to en­hancing mutual friendship and understanding among the peo­ple of Myanmar, China, and the Hong Kong SAR.

 

At the ceremony were Per­manent Secretary Ms Michelle Li of the Education Bureau of Hong Kong SAR, along with the chairman, vice-chairman, and other officials of CGCC, as well as students from Myan­mar who had received the Belt and Road Scholarship.

 

The Belt and Road Schol­arship Scheme, which offers scholarships to students from Myanmar, commenced in the 2019-2020 academic year. In the current academic year, ten students from Myanmar have been granted scholarships. — ASH/TKO
