The Fire Services Department (FSD) and the Myanmar Red Cross Society (MRCS) jointly organized a natural disaster preparedness drill in the compound of the township Fire Services Department in Buthidaung Township, Maungdaw District; Rakhine State on January 14 with the aim of rescuing people when natural disaster occurs in the region.


At the event, staff from the township FSD orchestrated how to use fire extinguishers and other rescue equipment when disaster occurs in the region. Next, volunteers from the township MRCS demonstrated how to conduct the First Aid for the disaster victims. Afterwards, officials from the township FSD and MRCS shared knowledge about natural disasters such as fire and earthquake, and preventative measures. 


The township Administrator U Shwe Hla, commander of the District FSD U Than Zin, the Township Police Chief Police Major Wei Phyo, commander of the Township FSD U Tun Win Naing, departmental officials and volunteers from the MRCS were involved in the drill.
