Fire breaks out on oil tanker, no casualties reported

No one was injured in an oil tanker fire in Myinmu Township, Sagaing Region on 20 February. The fire broke out on an oil tanker docked at a small jetty near Myitpauk Village along the Ayeyawady River at about 11:40 a.m. yesterday.

A group of firefighters went to the scene of the fire and took about 12 minutes to completely extinguish the blaze by using three fire engines and one water tanker. The fire is believed to have started from an oil spark while transferring diesel on the oil tanker with the use of a 22 kW generator. The fire consumed about 20 gallons of diesel worth Ks. 60,000.

 

The owner of the oil tanker identified as U Zaw Win Maung, 30 years old from Aungmingalar Ward in Monywa has been charged with fire negligence by the local police station.—Ko Min (Indaw)
