Free eye care services offered in Indakaw Township

An ophthalmology team from the Department of Health offered free eye care services to locals in the villages, Indakaw Township in Bago Region.

The free eye treatment was conducted by a specialist team led by Dr. Ko Oo in cooperation with volunteers from a philanthropic organization at a rural hospital in Natthankwin Village. A total of 237 patients were given medical check-ups and 71 cataract patients are found to be performed surgery. They also performed surgery for cataract patients and provided glasses to eye patients.

Total cost for medical checkups and medical treatment was covered by a philanthropic organization. The team so far conducted medical checkups for around 7,500 eye patients and performed eye surgeries for about 1,200 people.—Tin Soe (Bago)
