Kayin Chief Minister attends Children’s Literature Festival (Phapun)

Kayin State Government, Information and Public Relations Department, Department of Basic Education and Phapun District Management Committee jointly opened children’s literature festival, book exhibition and book fair at Basic Education High School (Phapun) in Phapun, Kayin State this morning.

 

First, the festival was opened by the Presiding Sayadaw of Ayethuka Monastery, Kayin State Chief Minister Daw Nan Khin Htwe Myint, State Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Saw Myint Oo, State Minister for Social Affairs U Bo Bo Wai Maung and officials from Information and Public Relations Department, State Education Officer’s Office and District General Administration Department.

 

At the ceremony, the state chief minister gave opening remarks and an official from the IPRD also clarified the purpose of the children’s literature festival. Then, the chief minister also provided books to libraries in four schools in the district and it was followed by the students’ entertainment program. Next, the winners in the competitions such as storytelling, impromptu talk, drawing and poetry reading were awarded by the officials.

 

The festival includes booths such as science, ethnic literature and culture and departmental displays. The children’s literature festival were held in Hpa-an, Myawady and Kawkareik. The festival in Phapun continues until 19 January.
