The seventh batch of Myanmar citizens facing difficulties abroad due to the suspension of international flights amid COVID-19 were transported by a Korean airline’s relief flight from Incheon Airport to Myanmar yesterday.
The plane carrying 82 Myanmar citizens from South Korea and 88 Myanmar citizens from Belgium, Canada, Spain, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, France and America landed at Yangon International Airport at 8 pm.
Upon arrival, the 170 passengers were subject to medical examinations and had their 21-day quarantine arrangements made for them by the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, the Ministry of Health and Sports, and the Yangon Region government.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been working accordingly with guidelines set by the National Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of COVID-19 to arrange special flights and relief flights for Myanmar citizens stuck abroad.
With the cooperation of relevant ministries and Myanmar embassies overseas, the ministry has successfully brought back 3,356 citizens back home.— MNA (Translated by Zaw Htet Oo)
