Line Walker-2 continues fourth day of filming near Sule Pagoda

On the fourth day of filming near Sule Pagoda, cast and crew of ‘Line Walker-2’ shot a shootout scene between police and criminal gangs in front of the Central Fire Station in Kyauktada Township, Yangon yesterday. Enthusiastic Yangonians once again packed the streets surrounding the film set to show their support for Hong Kong action film while authorities were on site to ensure traffic was smooth.

Ma Zun Li, a textile shop owner in Theingyi Market, said one of the actors in the film is a favourite from her younger days and four more familiar actors are in the movie as well. She said she closed shop today to come observe the film set with her friends.

Despite the sweltering sun heating Yangon up in the afternoon, the director continued taking multiple shots of the gun fight as the crowd of onlookers also persisted in the hot weather.

U Naing Oo said he came from Tamway Township to see the filming near Sule Pagoda before it wrapped up on 26 February. He said he will watch the film when it comes out as it focuses on combating human trafficking.

Another avid fan, Ma Shun Kyin, travelled all the way from Ye Ayekwin ward in Taunggyi to see the filming after hearing about it from her Yangon friends.

Filming for Line Walker-2 began taking place in downtown Yangon since last Friday. The film shot scenes on Maha Bandoola Park Road on the 22nd and continued filming on Sule Pagoda Road on the 23rd. On the 24th, they shot a helicopter scene and a scene where police crash into the criminal’s car to stop them, with a gun fight ensuing, amidst a massive crowd of Yangonians spending their weekend break to watch the filming in progress.

U Maung Maung Soe from Bogalay Market said he is both amazed and honoured that a foreign film has come to shoot scenes in Yangon. He said the people of Myanmar are looking forward to movies that focus on cooperation with neighbouring countries in countering human and drug trafficking and preserving cultural heritage.

Line Walker-2 (Operation Midnight Shadow) is filming scenes on Sule Pagoda Road and Maha Bandoola Park Road from 22 to 26 February. Yangon Synthesis Productions is taking responsibility of the Hong Kong film on Myanmar’s side.
