Mingun-Mandalay vessel catches fire in Ayeyawady River, four injured

A vessel that plies the routes between Mingun and Mandalay in the Ayeyawady River caught fire at Mayanchan Port in Patheingyi Township, Mandalay Region at about 4 pm on 17 January.

According to the incident, goods which were carried on the vessel burned down and three men and one woman who took a bath in the river were slightly injured. Therefore, these people were admitted to the Mandalay General Hospital.

The fire started at 4:05 pm and it was extinguished by about 250 firefighters with 38 fire engines. Therefore, the fire was put out at 4:55 pm.
