Myanmar National League begins with Yangon United’s win

THE 2019 Myanmar National League season began yesterday with Yangon United defeating Hantharwady United 3-1 at Yangon United Sports Complex. Yangon United’s lineup included local star goalkeeper Sann Sat Naing, Kyi Lin, Maung Maung Lwin, Yan Aung Kyaw and Pyae Phyo Zaw.

 

Yangon dominated the first half, taking advantage of many opportunities. At the 10 minute mark, Sylla scored the icebreaker for Yangon, as his teammate Kyi Lin supported the ball to him.

 

Yangon scored its second goal, while Yangon’s Miller assisted the ball to Kyi Lin, who scored at the 21 minute mark. 

 

Once more, Sylla made the third and leading goal for Yangon at the 31 minute mark, as the first half finished with Yangon leading by three goals.

 

Hantharwady played even better in the second half, with their great football delivering and counter attacking.

 

Hantharwady made their first goal while kicking a foul ball by Mark Sekyi at the 89 minute mark, as the ball went directly into the net.

 

The final whistle was blown by the referee at the full time, as Yangon United won the opening match of the 2019 season, while earning three points.—Lynn Thit (Tgi)
