Myanmar National League to resume on 22 August

THE remaining matches of the MPT Myanmar National League 2020 season will be back into action on 22 August with strict COVID-19 standard operation procedure, according to an official statement released by the Myanmar Football Federation and the Myanmar National League Committee yesterday. 


The MFF released an official announcement for restarting the football matches following a videoconference held on 12 August with State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Health and Sports Professor Dr Thet Khaing Win, MFF President U Zaw Zaw and former Myanmar national team player and current Shan United keeper Thiha Si Thu. 


The MNL 2020 season, which will restart on 22 August, will end on 2 October, according to the MFF. 


Currently, Hantharwady United is leading the MNL standing table with 27 points earned of nine wins and one draw after ten matches played. 


Next, Ayeyawady United is standing in second place with 23 points of seven wins and two draws after nine matches played. 


Former MNL champion Yangon United is in the third place with 20 points of six wins, two draws and one loss after nine matches played. Defending champion Shan United is sitting in the fourth place with 17 points of five wins, two draws and two losses after nine matches played. There are twelve teams currently participating in the tourney.
