Myanmar National League: Yangon suffer 0-1 loss to Ayeyawady

Yangon United suffered a 0-1 defeat to Ayeyawady United yesterday at their home stadium of Ayeyawady in Pathein during the Week-9 match of Myanmar National League.

The winning goal for Ayeyawady was scored by foreign player Success.

With the 4-2-3-1 setting formation, Yangon United played carefully with a strong attack on Ayeyawady United.

Ayeyawady United began their attack from the match start, keeping busy Yangon United defenders and keeper Kyaw Zin Htet. Again, Yangon United tried to dominate their opponents with attacks by Aung Kyaw Naing, Barfo and Mg Mg Lwin, but Ayeyawady United’s defense line held its place to block any scoring opportunities.

The first half finished scoreless.

In the second half, Yangon United changed their tactics with the substitutions of Emmanuel and Kyi Lin in place of Barfo and Kaung Htet Soe.

Ayeyawady United scored their icebreaker at 67 minutes, with a header by Success and an assist by teammate Lwin Moe Aung. After the goal, Yangon attacked with all out efforts in the final minutes, but strikers need neat finishing to convert their opportunities to goals. At the final whistle, Ayeyawady United celebrated 1-0 over Yangon United.—Lynn Thit (Tgi)
