March 4

Myanmar players will compete in the Asian Billiards and Snooker Championships and the 2022 World Snooker Championship to be held in Qatar this year.

Dr Min Naing (President of the Myanmar Billiards and Snooker Federation) will be the team leader of the Myanmar Billiards and Snooker team and Aung San Oo will be in the billiards team while Pauksa, Min Si Thu Tun, Win Ko and Aung Phyo are playing as snooker players.

The players are taking training ahead of the 31st Viet Nam SEA Games in May.

The competition is in preparation for the SEA Games.

Both events are hosted by Qatar, with eight World Snooker Championships taking place from 1 to 11 March. The Asian Billiards and Snooker Championships will be held from 12 to 19 March.

The World Snooker Championships include the Senior Snooker Individual. There will be a women’s tournament and a U-21 men’s tournament, with two Myanmar players competing in the senior men’s singles.

The tournament starts on 1 March, but the Myanmar players will compete from 6 to 11 March.

The Asian Billiards and Snooker Championships will continue after the World Championship, with Myanmar players competing in the individual snooker and individual billiards tournaments.

Myanmar billiards and snooker players have not competed in international competitions since the 2019 SEA Games and will be allowed to compete again this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. — Ko Nyi Lay/GNLM
