Myanmar sees about US$ 600 mln of trade deficit this year

Myanmar’s export volume for April 2019 totaled US$ 1449.53 million whereas Myanmar’s normal export volume reached US$ 641.64 million while border trade amounted US$ 807.89 million.

In the same period, Myanmar’s total import volume was valued at US$ 1497.13 million where Myanmar’s normal import volume saw US$ 1252.23 million and border import volume was worth US$ 244.90 million. Hence, Myanmar’s total trade volume for April was worth US$ 2946.66 million, leading to US$ 47.60 million of total trade deficit. 

Myanmar’s total export volume from October to April this year amounted to US$ 9703.70 million including US$ 5258.32 million of normal trade volume and US$ 4445.38 million of border trade volume. Meanwhile, Myanmar’s import volume was US$ 10303.33 million as normal import volume stood US$ 8609.92 million and border import volume hit US$ 1693.41 million. 

Therefore, Myanmar’s total trade volume from October to April this year amounted to US$ 20007.03 million, resulting in a trade deficit of US$ 599.63 million, according to the monthly export and import report released by the Central Statistical Organization.—MNA
