Myanmar Women’s League scheduled to hold in 2021

The Myanmar National League is scheduled to hold the Women’s League from April to July 2021, according to the football authorities.

The Myanmar National League discussed the issues about the women’s league at a league committee meeting this month, and officials have originally scheduled to hold the Women’s League in 2020, but it was moved to next year amidst the COVID-19 outbreak in Myanmar.

Football authorities will make a final decision about the league at another MNL meeting in early January.

The Myanmar Football Federation (MFF) created the very first version of the Women’s League in 2016.

The Women’s League has been held three times, with Myawaddy FC winning twice and the Sports Science team winning once. Eight teams competed in the previous seasons, and Myawady FC won twice in a row in the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 seasons. Next, Sports Science Team won the championship trophy in 2018-2019 season.

“Some clubs will resign for the upcoming season, but some new ones will be added. The Women’s League will be played by seven or eight teams. There are two rounds to be set in the upcoming tournament”, Myanmar National League officials said.
