Nigerian forward joins Rakhine United

The Myanmar National League side Rakhine United FC signed the club’s former Nigerian striker Sunday Matthews with a one season contract, according to its website.

         

Nigerian forward showed his brilliant performance at the Sittway-based club in 2017 and 2018 football seasons and rejoined the club this year on an undisclosed fee. Commenting about his reunion with Rakhine United, he said that, “I know very well about the club and fans. The fans eagerly support the club. I will try my best for the club.”

         

“I am very happy with the signing of striker Sunday. We are very hopeful of his performance in the pitch. We are trying our utmost for the fans this football season,” said U Tin Htoo Aung, Vice-President of the club. The club will ink another foreign player and is making necessary arrangements for the upcoming football season.

         

Rakhine United finished in the ninth position out of 12 teams in the previous Myanmar National League.—By Kyaw Htike Soe
