Phone Myint Kyaw wins third place in Shanghai 8 Ball tourney

Myanmar’s professional pool player Phone Myint Kyaw (alias) Ko Ar Ti, who is in China, competed in the 2020 Shanghai Fengyun 118 Chinese Pool Open Tournament yesterday and won the third prize.


The tournament was held from 1 to 5 November and featured high-profile Chinese players as it was a high-stakes competition in China. Phone Myint Kyaw defeated famous Chinese pool stars in the previous games to reach the semifinals but lost in the semifinal by 6-13.


The loss pushed Myanmar’s pool star to be pleased with a third-place and failed to reach the final game of the tourney.


Phone Myint Kyaw’s third prize in the competition is equivalent to 4 million kyats. He also competed in a series of competitions and entered the Shanghai tournament after winning Chao Yue Open 8 Ball.


Phone Myint Kyaw has been competing in Chinese pool tournaments in China since April 2020 and has competed in more than 20 events, earning a well-deserved victory, including first and third prizes. —Shine Htet Zaw
