Plywood factory fire claims 6 dead, 13 injured

Six people were killed and thirteen others injured in a fire at a plywood factory in Wahtayar Industrial Zone in Shwepyitha Township, Yangon Region on Monday.

The fire broke out at Honda (Myanmar) plywood factory on Seikkantha Road, Wahtayar Industrial Zone in Shwepyitha Township at around 7:37 p.m. on 18 February. It was brought under control at about 8:15 p.m. and was completely extinguished at 8:30 p.m. by firefighters by using fire engines, water tankers and fire extinguishers. The fire broke out after a boiler explosion inside the factory. Six people were pronounced dead and 13 people injured in the fire.
