President U Win Myint welcomes Vietnamese Prime Minister

President U Win Myint welcomed Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, who is making an official visit in Myanmar at the invitation of Myanmar President and First Lady, at the Presidential Palace in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.

The Myanmar President greeted his Vietnamese counterpart on the lawn in front of the Presidential Palace.

They first took the salute of the Guard of Honour, and inspected it before they exchanged introductions of senior officials from both sides.

After the welcoming ceremony, the Vietnamese Prime Minister signed the visitors’ book at the Presidential Palace.

They also held a meeting at the Credentials Hall on the topics about enhancement of bilateral friendship and ties between the two countries, bilateral cooperation in regional and international arenas for the interest of the two countries, exchange visits of high level delegation visits to mark the 45th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic ties, improvement of trade and investments, promotion of tourism sector, multi-sector cooperation and partnership relations.

The meeting was also attended by Union Ministers Lt-Gen Kyaw Swe, Lt-Gen Sein Win, U Min Thu, Dr Myo Thein Gyi, U Thaung Tun, Myanmar Ambassador to Viet Nam U Kyaw Soe Win, Vietnamese Ambassador Dr Luan Thuy Duong and officials.—MNA (Translated by Aung Khin)
