Only when productivity based on agriculture and livestock farming rises will the State’s GDP boost, said Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing delivered a speech at the Union government meeting 3/2024 at the SAC Chairman Office in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
Speaking at the meeting, the Senior General spotlighted that the agriculture and livestock sector plays a key role in enhancing the manufacturing sector, which can contribute to the development of industrial and service sectors. Hence, he continued that encouragement is being given to operating the manufacturing industry based on the agriculture and livestock sector.
The Senior General stressed the need to raise double cropping measures to recover loss of agricultural production and domestic production caused by armed terror acts in some areas in recent months. He urged relevant officials to assist in region-wise manufacturing measures.
He pointed out that MSME businesses must be operated to manufacture quality products for local consumption and export purposes. Ministries and regional and state chief ministers have to take lessons from weak points in the previous financial year and strive to achieve more excellent progress in the coming financial year.
The Senior General stressed the need to boost production based on cotton crop with the use of electricity generation via solar energy, urging all to emphasize manufacturing of quality textiles through increased production of cotton wool.
The Senior General instructed relevant ministries and regional and state governments to arrange the supply of safe water to areas facing shortages in summer and distribute sufficient agricultural water due to the high impacts of El Nino.
He unveiled that a surplus fund from the financial year must be efficiently spent on education, health and development sectors.
The Senior General urged all to exercise care for applying orthography of the Myanmar language for the preservation of Myanmar literature and to raise awareness of cybersecurity.
During summer holidays, he underscored that training courses and activities must be arranged for youths to have a wide knowledge and raise national character. He pledged that the government plans to provide necessary aid for shaping schools with good structures in the coming academic year.
Union ministers discussed plans to manufacture cotton ginning machines at home, production of cooking oil and quality threads from cotton, needs to provide inputs to cotton growers in Tatkon, Pyinmana and Magway Region, cultivation of quality cotton strains, tax payment of overseas employment agencies to the State, sending of labourers abroad via these agencies and tax collection from Myanmar workers abroad.
