13 January

Demonstrators clashed with police in France as the protest against President Emmanuel Macron's policies continues for the ninth straight weekend.

On Saturday, about 84,000 demonstrators, a far greater number than last weekend took part nationwide including Paris, Bordeaux and Bourges.

Protestors wearing yellow vests gathered around the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. They demanded Macron to resign.

Clashes broke out as police fired water cannons and tear gas. More than 150 demonstrators were arrested.

Last weekend some protestors attacked a government building.

The government announced a plan to crack down on undeclared protests on Monday.

Anti-government demonstrations began in November.
