Pyidaungsu Hluttaw discusses bills, votes on constitutional amendment

The second Pyidaungsu Hluttaw held its 24th day meeting of the 15th regular session yesterday, attended by 631 MPs, out of 654 total representatives, while 23 lawmakers were on leave.

Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Joint Bill Committee Member U Zaw Win presented a report on findings and recommendations of committee on Myanmar Geoscience Council bill sent back by the President with his remarks.

Committee member Daw Nwe Nwe Aung also read out a report on findings and recommendations of committee on the Industrial Zone bill which is a topic of controversy between the two Hluttaws.

Committee member Daw Kyein Ngie Mun also reported findings and recommendations of committee on the bill for amending Myanmar Medical Council, which is under debate between the two Hluttaws.

Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Speaker U T Khun Myat invited the MPs who want to discuss the issues to submit their names in line with the rules and regulations of Hluttaw.

The MPs later voted on proposals to amend 18 sections and paragraphs related to Section 436 (b).

All the proposals on following provisions failed to pass 75 per cent needed for further processes— Section 232 (a) (1), adding a sub-para under Section 232 (a) (4), Section 232 (b) (1), Section 232 (j) (2), Section 232 (k), Section 234(a), Section 234 (f), Section 235 (c)(2), Section 237 (a), Section 237 (a) (4) (dd), Section 239 (a), Section 239 (a) (4) (dd), Section 242 (a), Section 242 (a) (4)(cc), Section 244 (a), Section 244 (a)(4)(cc), adding a sub-para under Section 261 (a)(4) and Section 261(b).

Pyidaungsu Hluttaw will vote on proposals for amendment of provisions related to Section 436 (b) today.—Aung Ye Thwin, Aye Aye Thant (Translated by Aung Khin)
